The Academy Coaching Staff
All the personnel leading the coaching sessions are well qualified CSA & ECB cricket coaches who know the needs of students and who have a wealth of experience
organising cricket coaching for young players. They are all highly qualified
cricket coaches (Level III) with their National governing bodies of
cricket and have extensive coaching experience at Club,
School, University or Professional 1st Class level.
Martin Van Der Merwe
Northerns Titans & South Africa U19
Martin is the resident lead Coach of Cape Cricket. Having played first class cricket for the SA provincial side Northerns Titans after a prolific schoolboy career, Martin now spends half of his year in the UK coaching and the other half delivering the day to day coaching programme at the
Cape Cricket Academy based in Paarl.
Shukri Conrad

Former Head coach of the Western Province ‘Cape Cobras’
Based in Cape Town, Shukri is the former coach of The Cape Cobras, The Highland Strikers and the Highveld Lions. He has also spent time as a TV commentator.

Dawid Malan
Middlesex CCC & England Development Squad
Dawid was a boy at Paarl Boys HS and spent his GAP year in England with CapeCricket Academy coaches prior to him turning professional. He will be available to coach when resident in his home town of Paarl.
Merwe Genis

UCBSA Level 3 Professional Coach
Overseas coach to Oundle School in England for the last 10 years. Owner of the Merwe Genis Cricket School in Boland Province.

William Jefferson
Leicestershire CCC & England A
William was himself a GAP student in Paarl. He played locally and coached on the Merwe Genis Cricket School before he attended Durham University UCCE. He spends some of his off season as one of our guest coaches.
John Wake
Guest Coach
ECB Staff Coach/Manager England Schoolboys
Master I/C Cricket at Oundle School, he will be available during the school vacations to pass on his expertise. Both Dawid & William were under his guidance whilst at school.
