The Cricket Gap Year Programme
THE AIM
On the Cape Cricket Gap Year volunteer programme you will be coaching cricket each day to children in schools, clubs and townships whilst at weekends playing cricket for a local South African club side.
We aim to give you a cricketing experience that you will not forget. You will live the lifestyle of an overseas cricket coach which will involve some hard work. The rewards are that you will gain a rich understanding of the South African sporting culture and way of life.
During your coaching placement, you will be under the guidance of our local team. The Merwe Genis Cricket School is a well run and long established organisation that is the largest private cricket coaching school in the Western Cape.
Not only are you provided with the opportunity to coach each week in school’s, clubs and country clinics within the Boland Province, but you will have the chance to travel. Using Paarl and Cape Town as your base you will have time to explore the riches of the Western Cape. For those planning the full six month stay, you will have almost a month off from coaching over the South African holiday / Christmas period. Previous Gap Year volunteers have travelled the country or flown north in seek of game spotting and safari adventures. We can help you to plan what you will do within this period.
THE PACKAGES
We will tailor a package to suit your needs depending on your level of playing and coaching experience.
Please note that no formal ECB coaching qualifications are required to become a Gap Year volunteer coach with CapeCricket.com. Applicants with no coaching experience will be brought up to speed on arrival from one of our senior Level 3 coaching team and supervised when delivering any coaching.
You may opt to stay with the Cape Cricket Gap Year volunteer programme for 4 weeks, 10 weeks or for the whole summer which works out at 20 weeks.
