The Social Side
SOCIAL LIFE IN CAPE TOWN
We believe it is important to give our Gap Year volunteers the chance to unwind and have fun while they are away. The local Cape Cricket team therefore organises a variety of activities to bring everyone together, to share their experiences and, above all, have a good time.
The social life in Cape Town and especially Stellenbosch University is second to none, with so many 'sporty' people living together, social teams are a must. You will have more than enough time to play volleyball and football on the beach. There is also a whole variety of local teams that you can play with and, if you fancy the challenge, you can create your own volunteer team and pit your wits against the local South Africans!
If animals are your thing, South Africa is an ideal choice. With trips to Game Parks, the Lion Park in Paarl, the Cape Town Oceanarium, you will certainly experience your fair share of big game and African wildlife if you so wish. You'll also get the chance to experience a Boma (an authentic South African meal under the stars!). What more could you want from a social life abroad?

LIFE SKILLS
Joining the Cape Cricket Gap Year programme will equip you with valuable skills that are not only applicable to everyday life but are also looked upon very favourably by future employers and universities.
As you adapt to the unfamiliar surroundings and environment of a foreign culture, you will naturally grow in confidence, independence and maturity. You will also learn to work as part of a team, sympathise with the needs of others and, above all, realise the great rewards that can be gained from your hard work and commitment.
